This Couple Converted an Old Bus Into A Home On Wheels

This impressive bus conversion provides the perfect gateway to a true off-the-grid lifestyle. While many people imagine what it would be like to disconnect and live freely, the idea often fades as quickly as it comes. Countless dream of landing a remote job that lets them travel and work at the same time, but only a fortunate few can say they’ve actually made that dream come true.

After years of dreaming about a life on the road, Robbie and Priscilla finally broke away from the monotony of their daily routine. Fueled by a deep passion for discovering new places, savoring different cuisines, and experiencing diverse cultures, they made a life-changing choice. They bought a weathered 1998 Thomas school bus and envisioned it as their home and travel companion for the coming years

However, their dream went far beyond owning a vehicle for travel—they wanted to turn it into a warm, inviting home on wheels. A standard RV or campervan simply couldn’t bring their vision to life. Inspired by minimalist living, they took on the ambitious challenge of transforming the old bus into a compact yet comfortable dwelling.

Like any ambitious project, their journey came with its fair share of obstacles—and twice, they nearly gave up altogether. The biggest hurdle they faced was a stubborn problem with leaking windows.

No matter how many times they cleaned, repaired, or replaced the seals, the leaks refused to go away. It became a serious issue for their tiny home on wheels, leaving them frustrated and discouraged. Eventually, they reluctantly decided to list the gutted bus on Craigslist, believing their dream might be slipping out of reach.

Fortunately, they had a change of heart. They took the listing down and decided to invest in the more expensive solution: replacing all the windows. Although this choice significantly stretched their budget early in the build, the brand-new, leak-free windows revived their spirits and gave the project the fresh start it needed.

Before starting their bus conversion, Robbie and Priscilla took every chance they could to travel. But the hardest part of every trip was leaving their beloved pets behind and missing them while they were away. Determined to change that, they made sure their new home on wheels would be a comfortable space for their furry companion, Mr. Beebles.

After a year and a half of dedication and hard work, they finally completed their dream tiny home. In a charming finishing touch, they even added a real house door to make the space feel warm and inviting. With their build complete, they were ready to embrace an off-the-grid lifestyle—this time with their loyal feline friend by their side.

Their thoughtfully designed home on wheels includes all the essentials for comfortable living on the road—a toilet, hot water, air conditioning, heating, and even a washer and dryer. With everything they could possibly need, Robbie and Priscilla are fully equipped to take on the challenges of a nomadic lifestyle with confidence.

Thanks to their ability to manage their business remotely—with nothing more than a reliable internet connection—they can work from virtually anywhere. After saying goodbye to their home in Florida last year, they set off on an incredible adventure, visiting an impressive 137 cities in just 10 months.

As they continue their travels, Robbie and Priscilla have discovered that life on the road offers far more than they ever expected. Each new city brings fresh experiences, meaningful connections, and unforgettable landscapes that fuel their sense of purpose. Their journey has not only reshaped their daily routine but also deepened their appreciation for simplicity, freedom, and the beauty of choosing a life built on adventure rather than convention.
